Interview

An interview was personally done by me in order to get more information on issues and impacts on societies. Over E-mail in interviewed a current working criminalist by the name of Kaitlin Bauer from the California Department of Justice. Kaitlin gave me information on some social issues. For example, some laboratories like hers are looking into new technology for their overall analysis process. Laptops and ipads are some of the technology they are looking into. This allow criminalists like herself to move towards paperless analysis such as notes, photographs, etc. All analysis found would go directly into the computer and be generated into reports. This would make social connections much more easier as well as more organization creating less mistakes. Paperless laboratories would allow e-mail reports to be sent over to other labs. Several criminalists also could take the same report home providing more time to be done on an investigation. She also filled me in on some ethical issues and stated  some scientists have been recently investigated for unethical behaviors including the following: manipulating the evidence through adding or diminishing its value, "dry-labbing", which is a term they use for an analyst who turns out results, but is not actually doing the analysis, exaggerating, embellishing, lying about , or misrepresenting their actual findings, and lastly fabricating or misrepresenting their credentials. (C.22)

Screen-shot of my E-Mail between Kaitlin and I for physical  evidence.
